The highly anticipated Apple event took place on 15th September. There was no mention of a new handset, but it’s believed that this will be unveiled in the next few weeks.

Here’s what you need to know…

### Apple Watch Series 6

The undeniable star of the show was the new Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE, both with a huge emphasis on health and wellbeing.

- Starts at $399 (sterling equivalent unknown at time of publishing)
- 30% larger face than previous models
- New S6 chip processor, which is 20% faster than the Series 5’s chip
- watchOS 7 includes Family Setup, sleep tracking, automatic handwashing detection, new workout types, and the ability to curate and share watch faces
- Sensor to track blood oxygen saturation (which helps track breathing and heart rate in more detail)
- Fall detection
- Accelerometer, gyroscope, and always-on altimeter
- An always-on display that’s 2.5 times brighter than the Series 5
- New wrist bands, including the ‘Solo Loop’ (expands to slip over your hand and onto your wrist without needing a clasp)

### Apple Watch SE

- A more budget-friendly offering at $279 (sterling equivalent unknown at time of publishing)
- Features the same accelerometer, gyroscope, and always-on altimeter as Apple Watch Series 6
- Includes the new Solo Loop and Braided Solo Loop bands

 

### iOS 14

A new operating system that redesigns the experience of the iPhone. Includes:

- Redesigned widgets on the home-screen
- App Library – a new way to organise your apps
- App Clips – a new and faster way to experience apps when you need them

 

### iPad Air

- From £579
- 10.9-inch, edge-to-edge, Liquid Retina display
-  Apple A14 Bionic processor
- New chip delivers a 40% CPU performance boost and a 30% increase in graphics performance
- Next-generation Touch ID sensor
- Advanced cameras
- Apple Pencil that attaches to the side magnetically for storage and charging

 

### iPad 8

- From $329
- 10.2″ retina display
- A12 Bionic Processor
- FaceTime HD camera
- Up to 10 hours of use on a single charge

 

### Apple One

- New subscription plan that bundles together its various services (including Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, iCloud, and more)
- Designed to give you the best of Apple entertainment across all your favourite devices with one simple subscription.
