Covid-19: Today’s update from our CEO (06/04/2020)
Hello,
As things continue to develop with the global pandemic caused by Covid-19, businesses are continually having to adapt and change. At projectfive, we’re no different.
Our primary concern is the safety and welfare of the people that we care about – both from the virus itself and from the knock-on economic impacts that a prolonged lock-down will have on us all.
During the last few weeks, I’ve seen our team grow stronger and more connected. I’ve seen relationships with customers becoming deeper, with genuine concern and support offered from both sides. It’s really been a truly inspiring community effort that is keeping everything going. Everybody is looking out for each other, all feeling a little pain, but all showing great reserves of strength and patience, and standing by each other.
We will look back on these days, and the lessons we’ve learned, and wonder how we did it. But, I’m sure, we will look back at these times with a sense of pride.
The UK government has launched a number of initiatives to help businesses survive these difficult times. The one that I’m seeing most firms turn to is the CJRS (Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme). This is where the government will pick up the tab for 80% of an employee’s salary to encourage companies to stand by their people. At projectfive, we’ve taken the decision to use the CRJS and to furlough some of our team. Wherever possible, we have chosen to implement the furlough scheme in a shared manner. It’s better that we all share a little of the pain, rather than some lose out completely.
So, over the coming weeks, most of the projectfive team will take their turn on furlough. During these times, some of the individuals you deal with may change – but we’re committed to making sure we’re still here to support you, our customers, and will work hard to handover tasks and responsibilities as we swap ourselves around. There will still be plenty of us here to help you.
Thank you for all your messages of support and, if you need anything from me, please let me know. We are, as always, here to help.
And, in the meantime, please stay safe, sane and positive. We are truly living through a remarkable period of history – one that we will remember for many years to come.
Thank you.
Steve.
